Well we have a new Masters Champion, Dustin Johnson who set a tournament record 20 under par. It was an outstanding individual achievement, by DJ, and by the ANGC members who allowed us all to enjoy this event in a year like none of us have ever experienced before. We have so much to appreciate from viewing The Masters with overhead drone shots, never seen before vistas. The site lines off the tees were so unique, with no patrons, you could see several holes at one time. Never before would the casual fan (patron) get to see these sites.

The weather was dicey to begin with, and the scheduling was difficult with limited daylight; but round 3 finished on Saturday, setting the drama for an early morning Sunday round. Who says you can’t watch The Masters and the NFL in the same day.

There was excitement all day long as the stellar play continued, maybe the greens were a bit soft, but there are perils lurking around evert corner. Just take Tiger, who did something he never did before. After 20,154 holes as a professional, he carded his highest individual hole score with a 10. Yes, a 10. To follow this hole with 5 birdies in the last 6 holes, is why Tiger is a champion and always will.

Kevin Na hit all 18 greens in round one, but took a Masters record 39 putts, that is not easy to do.

Bryson lost a ball on hole 3 leading to a triple.

I mention all of these perils, so should it ever happen to you in a tournament, you will know that those you look up to, did so as well.

The Notay Begay 3 Junior Golf National Championships is beginning today at the Coushatta Resort in Louisiana. How cool will it be to watch this junior event on Golf Channel, now scheduled to air on December 9th.

The Golfweek Amateur Series along with the GCAA tournaments are winding down. Thanks to both groups for making these opportunities available to the college gofers who otherwise wouldn’t have any competitive events this fall. Time will tell if these will continue in the spring, as colleges begin to plan for a full slate of ncaa tournaments.
