CIF City Section Students to Get New Shoes at Event This Saturday (Oct 21) at Birmingham Community Charter HS in Lake Balboa
 

  • Event Description:  Friends of Golf (FOG) has teamed with G/FORE to donate 2,000 pairs of brand-new golf shoes to CIF high school student athletes starting this Saturday at Birmingham Community Charter High School in Lake Balboa. CIF City Section high school coaches and members of their golf teams will be picking up the donated golf shoes and be on hand, as well as representatives from FOG and CIF. 

 
Note: High school golf students from two additional CIF Southern California divisions (CIF Southern Section and CIF San Diego Section) will also receive free shoes at future events.

FRIENDS OF GOLF (FOG):
Originally founded in 1979, FOG has donated over $10 million to both national and Southern California college, high school and non-profit golf-focused organizations. FOG supports student athlete golfers by instilling the values of honesty, ethics, and fellowship with a true appreciation for the game. From the time boys and girls enter grade school through the end of their college experience, FOG makes it possible for aspiring junior golfers (irrespective of economic standing) to play, compete and excel in this exceptional sport.

CIF CITY SECTION:
The California Interscholastic Federation (hereinafter referred to as the CIF) was founded in Los Angeles in 1914 in order to standardize rules and team structures between schools. As a problem-solving organization, the CIF prides itself on providing equitable athletic competition for more than 1,600 schools across California. The CIF Los Angeles City Section (hereinafter referred to as LACS) constitutes a Section of the CIF, and as such, conducts its athletic programs in conformance with the general policies of the State. Currently, there are 51 golf programs within CIF City Section.
