SCGA Junior Golf Foundation Holds 9th Annual Scholar Dinner

The SCGA Junior Golf Foundation hosted its 9th annual Scholar Dinner Sunday. More than 160 scholars, parents, committee and board members gathered to celebrate graduating seniors and new and renewing scholars. The Foundation awarded the 2019-2020 scholarship class $175,000. Consisting of 53 students, they will attend schools throughout nine states, with 26 competing on their collegiate golf teams.

Highlights of the graduating class include Samantha Rocha, who played collegiate golf at Occidental College and will now attend nursing school; Hansel Suharli, who attended UC Berkeley, was involved with AFROTC and will be stationed in Oklahoma City as a program manager for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center and Andrew Banuelos who served as a coach in the Player & Youth Development program throughout his time in school.

In memory of SCGA staff member Deb Long who was a lifelong advocate of the game, the Foundation presented the Deb Long Scholarship to Jasmine Lew.
